Basanth has over two decades of experience in psychiatry, having worked in both public and private sectors across two countries.
He has a particular interest in managing patients with co-occurring substance use disorders and other mental health conditions, as well as chronic pain.
In his current public appointment, he serves at
St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne and
Goulburn Valley Health, Shepparton.
Basanth chairs the Subcommittee for Advanced Training in Addiction Psychiatry at the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry (RANZCP). He is an executive committee member of the
Australian Deprescribing Network.
