Basanth has over 20 years of experience in psychiatry. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) with additional qualification in Addiction Psychiatry.
Basanth has a special interest in managing patients struggling with polypharmacy and prescription medication dependence associated with chronic pain, & co-occurring substance use disorders (addictions) with mental health conditions.
In his current public appointment, he serves at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne and Goulburn Valley Health, Shepparton.
Basanth chairs the Subcommittee for Advanced Training in Addiction Psychiatry at the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP). He is an executive committee member of the Australian Deprescribing Network (ADeN).
